About the Award

Former President and CEO Scotty McIntyre, Jr. always viewed insurance as a people business. In his interactions with agents, policyholders and employees, he chose to go beyond the numbers to seek the human side. Today, in the same spirit, UFG wishes to annually recognize its agents and employees for exceptional community service and philanthropy.

We firmly believe in giving back to the communities where we do business. In honor of this philosophy, the Scotty McIntyre, Jr. "Go Beyond" Award recognizes individuals for their exemplary community service efforts. Two winners will be chosen each year, including a:

Each recipient will receive a trophy and UFG will make a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice.

Nominating A Candidate

Nominations can only be made for specific individuals—groups or organizations will not be accepted. Any employee of UFG or a UFG agency can nominate one or more candidates in either of the two categories. Nominations are accepted from January 1st through June 30th for that calendar year. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Selection Process

We value each submission we receive and appreciate the time and effort the nominator takes to submit a nomination. A selection committee is made up of a team of employees from across the region and from various departments across the company. The selection committee reviews each application to narrow the field of candidates down to one winner in each category.
